Recently, I have found myself in need of an abundant supply of God’s power. And I’m sure many of you can relate, whether you are approaching class finals, applying to colleges, facing challenges at work, or even going through a life-changing problem. My point is: we are all in need of God’s power.
Daily I keep finding myself relying on Him, and this is a good thing. So I began to ponder the mysteries behind the longing for God’s power rather than my own. And as I began to dwell on the thought of His unlimited, dominating power, I began to realize the reality of His sovereignty. When I am weak, He is strong. When I am powerless, He is powerful. When power slips into the hands of the wrong people, His power reigns sovereign over theirs. When I can barely handle more than one task at a time, He holds the whole world in His hands. No one can ever surpass God’s power. And as I pondered the truths behind His beautiful power, a verse came to mind.
“And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of his Spirit who lives in you.” -Romans 8:11
Not only does God’s power surpass every other being’s authority, His power dwells within the lives of each believer. Because I believe and am a child of God, the Spirit of God, who raised Christ from the dead, lives within me. His powerful Spirit lives within His followers.
Now I understand why I reach for His power above every other authority and every other person. His power surpasses everything. Whenever I need God’s power, all I have to do is let the Holy Spirit reign through me.
So as we approach challenges, remember that although you feel incapable, God is capable. When you feel weak, ask God for His power to reign through your circumstances. He has an abundant living within His followers that can enable us to accomplish anything for His glory.
