God is good.
In the midst of trial after trial, when nothing seems right, God is good. He is good when blessings rain down and He is good in times of darkness and despair. If there is one thing I know, it is that no matter what the day brings, GOD IS GOOD.
Psalm 100:5 (NIV)
For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.
His goodness is not measured by our circumstances, it is displayed by His faithfulness that continues forever.
His faithfulness tells me that if I’m standing on the mountaintop, where life is great, He is good. And His faithfulness tells me that if I’m in the valley, where everything is difficult, He is still good.
Recently, I have found myself in the valley. Yet when I stumbled upon a Youtube video by Larah Elisabeth called, “Keep Me In The Valley,” I was able to gain an appreciation for this mysterious place.
There were two scenarios presented in the video: the mountaintop and the valley. People tend to depict the valley as a place of trial and tribulation and instead, strive to live life on that “mountaintop” experience. But we need to remember that the valley is where we are transformed. Not only can we see God’s goodness in the valley, but the valley strips away our blindfolds and allows us to see His goodness and faithfulness more clearly.
“We have to come down into the valley. That is where we are molded and everything that is not good in us is chipped away. All of our sinful nature is just stripped apart, and broken down, and chipped away until we are molded into the image of Christ.”
So when we are not on the mountaintop, if instead we are in the valley below, that is where God wants us.
Sometimes God lifts us up to the mountains and sometimes He places us in the valley, but we need to remember that He is constant and He is constantly good.
Today, I want to encourage you to remember that there are ALWAYS times to praise God, even in the midst of challenges, trials, and tribulations.
We were not made to stay in one place. We are continually growing and learning and being sanctified. And God will lead you where you need to go. He will lead you to a place where you can learn and know that He is good.
This video was inspired by the song “Awesome” by Charles Jenkins. I encourage you to watch it and head over to Larah’s Youtube Channel (Subscribe to see more of her videos!).
